Tradeshift is launching the World’s first free invoicing platform for small business allowing them to easily connect and do business with their trading partners online.

“I believe that modern business software has grown too complex and difficult to use for most businesses. Our goal was to create something extremely simple, that allows all small businesses to replace their paper processes with electronic ones,” says Tradeshift CEO, Christian Lanng

The potential in digitizing paper invoicing is huge. The European Commission has estimated that every year handling, transporting and creating paper invoices cost government and companies more than 64B €. On top of that comes the environmental cost of cutting down forest for paper, transporting it in trucks and printing and packaging.

“Tradeshift cannot only make doing business easier but can eliminate a vast amount printing, paper and mailbag journeys. This is the century where all services will be clean, green and smart – Tradeshift is leading the way.”
- Steve Howard, CEO of the Climate Group

Three Danes founded Tradeshift, with a background in creating large-scale government and European level invoicing solutions. Tradeshift has Morten Lund, known from Skype, as well as Jon Bosak one of the creators of XML as board members. Finally notable co-investors are Marten Mickos, known from MySQL and Stefan Glaenzer from Last.FM.

Tradeshift will be available in Denmark from the 18th of May, UK & Ireland in the following week and Germany from the first week of June 2010, but is already signing up beta users now.
