Fireside Chat: The C-Level CPO, New Skills & New Supply Relationships

Tuesday, 05 November, 2019 | 11:50 am | Track D

Moderated by: Tim Cummins, President, IACCM

Leaders offer new ideas and insights that influence and support core business objectives.  To deliver this C-level value, CPOs require a new set of skills, a new organization, a focus on CEO objectives – and the support of their key suppliers. While enabling excellence at core SCM, they must develop the expertise to deliver on supplier innovation and to oversee successful procurement outcomes. The team focus moves to the front of the design effort, early in the strategy discussions, and driving change in the budget process. Suppliers too must make changes to support this agenda, so how will Procurement and suppliers work together in the future to generate mutual value?

Meet the speaker

Roy Anderson, Chief Procurement and Digital Transformation Officer
Roy Anderson has been at the forefront of procurement technology since the 1980s.  Now, as the Chief Procurement Officer of Tradeshift – the largest global business network for buying and selling – Roy is one of the only network CPOs in the world, as he enacts transformational change in the marketplace, allowing thousands of companies to choose from curated tools that allow them to share digital data with their suppliers – a solution that digitizes the supply chain in a way that has never been done before. A string of impressive accomplishments during his 30+ years in procurement prepared Roy to take on this unique role. Roy has led transformational change throughout his career, implementing a DOD first Mainframe EDI to supplier network, at the dawn of the PC era. Working with early technology pioneers to build and implement e-Procurement and e-Sourcing prior to Y2K, and driving billions in electronic sourcing while developing MWBE suppliers to excel across a wide range of categories. Before joining Tradeshift this past September, Roy led the Procurement technology transformation at companies such as Fidelity Investments, and as CPO at John Hancock, MetLife and State Street Bank.

Tradeshift drives supply chain innovation for the digitally connected economy. As the leader in supply chain payments and marketplaces, the company helps buyers and suppliers digitize all their trade transactions, collaborate on every process, and connect with any supply chain app. More than 1.5 million companies across 190 countries trust Tradeshift to process over half a trillion USD in transaction value, making it the largest global business network for buying and selling.
