September 1, 2026 was the first big date on France’s e-invoicing mandate — every business had to be ready to receive structured electronic invoices, and large and mid-sized companies crossed into mandatory issuing and e-reporting.

For SMEs and micro-enterprises, the next milestone is September 2027, when the issuance and e-reporting obligations extend to them too. That gives companies time to prepare, but not time to ignore it.

September 2027 may still look far away. But France’s e-invoicing reform has already started.
