We’re raising the bar on AI-powered accounts payable automation and reporting, eliminating manual effort, reducing errors, and putting your team in full control.

Spring releases have a way of surfacing the work that’s been quietly building in the background. This one is no exception. Our AI-powered AP automation and reporting updates this Spring are some of the most meaningful we’ve shipped, and if your team is still spending time on manual document handling, template maintenance, or chasing down configuration errors, these updates are going to feel like a breath of fresh air.

AI Document Intelligent Extraction & Enrichment

Manual invoice handling is one of the biggest drags on AP productivity — and it tends to get worse as your business scales and supplier diversity grows. This Spring, we’ve completely rearchitected how Tradeshift processes incoming invoice documents.

At the core is a powerful new extraction engine combining advanced OCR (AWS Textract) with Large Language Models (LLMs). Together, they automatically interpret and structure data from both native PDFs and image-based or scanned documents — no templates required. A dedicated AI enrichment tab gives your team real-time status visibility at every stage: uploaded, extracting, enriching, completed, or flagged for review. The upgraded ScanIO UI adds bounding boxes and missing data suggestions, so exceptions are easy to spot and act on.

What this means for your team:

  • Zero template maintenance — eliminate the ongoing cost and effort of managing fixed PDF templates as supplier formats change
  • Higher automation rates — the AI adapts to diverse and complex invoice layouts globally, without manual intervention
  • Scalable by design — a flexible AI architecture built to handle enterprise-grade volume and global supplier diversity, replacing legacy rigid systems

Document Matching 2.0: Document-Level GUI Configuration

For too long, configuring invoice matching logic meant either relying on API-only setups or living with a “black box” — rules running in production that nobody could see or easily change. We’ve fixed that.

The new “Document Based Rules” configuration tab brings header-level matching logic (such as Invoice vs. Credit Note) directly into the UI, giving business users full visibility and control without needing developer support. Real-time JSON previews let you see exactly what’s configured, and upload/download portability makes it easy to move configurations across environments.

What this means for your team:

  • End-to-end autonomy — manage the full matching lifecycle, from header to line items, in a single pane of glass
  • Full transparency — what you see on screen is exactly what’s running in production; no hidden logic, no surprises
  • Reduced IT dependency — business users can own and update matching configurations independently, freeing up technical resources

Document Matching 2.0: GUI Configuration Usability Improvements

Misconfigured rule can silently cause downstream problems that are expensive to unpick. So we’ve added a layer of active intelligence to make the experience safer and more accessible.

The UI now dynamically adapts to your selections, automatically disabling unsupported attributes to prevent invalid combinations from ever being saved. A proactive error detection system instantly flags duplicates, undefined rules, and integrity violations in real time — before anything reaches your production environment.

What this means for your team:

  • Precision by designerrors are caught before they’re saved, not after they’ve caused damage
  • Democratised expertisecomplex matching logic is embedded directly into the UI, so non-technical users can configure rules safely and confidently
  • Faster configuration cyclesless back-and-forth with support or IT to validate rule changes

Anomaly Detection Dashboard

Most AP teams are good at processing what’s in front of them. Where things get difficult — and costly — is spotting what doesn’t look right before it becomes a real problem. Invoice fraud, duplicate payments, process breakdowns: these often hide in plain sight until something goes wrong.

The new Anomaly Detection Dashboard in the Reporting & Analytics App is designed to surface data points that deviate from established patterns — flagging potential risks, control failures, or unexpected process behaviours so your team can investigate before they escalate. And it’s worth noting: not every anomaly is a problem. Some outliers represent genuine business opportunities that would otherwise go unnoticed in the noise.

What this means for your team:

  • Early fraud and risk identification — unusual patterns are surfaced automatically, acting as a continuous early warning system for your AP environment
  • Operational efficiency gains — quickly pinpoint processes that aren’t behaving as expected, without waiting for end-of-period reviews
  • Opportunity discovery — identify positive outliers that could signal new supplier trends, cost savings, or process improvements worth scaling

Reports Scheduler

If your team is still manually pulling reports and distributing them to stakeholders, that’s time and energy that could be spent on higher-value work. The Reports Scheduler eliminates that entirely.

With this feature, you can automate the generation and delivery of your most critical reports — daily, weekly, or monthly — directly to the right people at the right time. No more logging into the platform just to export data. No more chasing stakeholders to check dashboards. The insights go to them, on schedule, automatically.

What this means for your team:

  • Hands-free distribution — set your reporting cadence once and let the platform handle delivery, keeping stakeholders aligned without manual effort
  • Proactive decision-making — critical data reaches the right people when it’s most relevant, enabling faster action rather than delayed reactions
  • Reduced platform fatigue — your team gets the data they need in their inbox, freeing them from daily logins just to pull basic metrics

The Bigger Picture

What connects all of these updates is a shared philosophy: your AP team shouldn’t need to be systems experts to get the most out of your platform. Whether it’s AI extracting and enriching invoice data automatically, a UI that actively prevents configuration mistakes, or reports that land in your inbox before you even think to ask for them — we’re building Tradeshift to do the heavy lifting, so your team can focus on the decisions that actually move the business forward.
